Mandya: In a tragic accident, a man, his wife and daughter were killed on the spot, while his other child sustained serious injuries when a speeding milk tanker reportedly rammed into the scooter they were riding, from behind on Koppa Main Road near Mandya at about 5.30 am today.

The deceased have been identified as Muthu (35), his wife Kavya (30) and daughter Keerthana (8), all from Bhootagondanahalli village at Kanakapura taluk of Bengaluru South district. The seriously injured child has been admitted to a hospital.

Following Gowri-Ganesha festival, the couple, along with their children, had come to their relative’s house near Koppa village.

This morning, they left for Bengaluru on their TVS Jupiter scooter and while they were proceeding on Koppa Main Road, the speeding milk tanker from Davanagere rammed into the scooter from behind killing the couple and their daughter on the spot and seriously injuring their other child.

Rash and negligent driving by the driver of the milk tanker is said to be the cause for the accident.  

Koppa Police, who reached the spot, conducted mahazar and shifted the bodies to MIMS Hospital in Mandya for post-mortem.

Koppa Police, who have registered a case, have nabbed the milk tanker driver and seized both vehicles involved in the accident.
