Sugreeva tops the list with 5,850 kgs among all 12 Dasara elephants
Mysuru: The second batch of three Dasara elephants, which arrived at Mysore Palace on Sunday, underwent weight checking this morning. The first batch of nine Dasara elephants had arrived at Mysore Palace on Aug. 28 and their weights were checked on Aug. 30.
This morning the three Dasara jumbos along with the first batch of nine jumbos were led out of Mysore Palace through the North Gate and proceeded via Chamaraja Circle, K.R. Circle and Sayyaji Rao Road, where they took a left turn to Dhanvantri Road near Bata and proceeded to Sairam & Co. Weigh Bridge.

The weights of the three jumbos are as follows: Sugreeva from Dubare Elephant Camp weighed 5,850 kgs, Chaitra from Rampura Elephant Camp weighed 3,295 kgs and Roopa from Doddaharave Elephant Camp weighed 3,260 kgs.
After the weights were checked, all the 12 elephants proceeded on Dhanvantri Road, took a left turn on Sayyaji Rao Road and proceeded till Government Ayurveda Hospital Circle where they took a U-turn and walked on Sayyaji Rao Road back to Mysore Palace.
DCF (Wildlife) Dr. I.B. Prabhu Gowda, Range Forest Officer (RFO) Yashma Machamma, Veterinarian Dr. Adarsh, elephant caretakers Rangaraju, Akram and mahouts and kavadis of all 12 Dasara jumbos accompanied the elephants.
Weighty Sugreeva
With Sugreeva weighing 5,850 kgs, he tops the list followed by Srikanta at 5,790 kgs, Ekalavya – 5,600 kgs, Dhananjaya – 5,530 kgs, Mahendra – 5,490, Prashantha – 5,205 kgs, Gopi – 5,170 kgs, Srirama – 4,820 kgs, Lakshmi – 3,990 kgs, Chaitra – 3,295 kgs, Roopa – 3,260 kgs and Kaveri weighed the least with 3,075 kgs.
