Mysuru: Mysore Open Forum (MOF) has organised a talk on ‘Masters of Russian Literature – Fyodor Dostoevesky – his life & works’ by Dr. Kamakshi Balasubramanian, Scholar of Russian Literature, Educator & Writer, at 10.30 am tomorrow (Sept. 27) at Kalpa Kshetra Auditorium, #581/1, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 1st Phase, Mysuru. Dr. Kamakshi  Balasubramanian, educated in India, Russia (the erstwhile USSR) and the USA, will focus on one of the Masters of Russian Literature, Fyodor Dostoevsky who continues to attract serious readers who are ready to confront reality in all its rawness and immediacy. He is seen as a political thinker, a psychologist, a spiritual seeker and an artist who inspired writers who came after him.

Some of his books are Crime and Punishment, Brothers Karamazov, Notes from Underground, Demons, The Idiot, The Adolescent and The Gambler. He is regarded as one of the greatest novelists in both Russian and world literature and many of his works are considered highly influential masterpieces.

Dostoevsky’s literary works explore the human condition in the troubled political, social and spiritual atmospheres of 19th-century Russia and engage with a variety of philosophical and religious themes. Kannada translations of Dostoevsky’s works reflect the interest his masterpieces evoked in our part of the world.
