Mysuru: Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar has issued an order revising the routes of KSRTC and other transport buses entering and leaving the city through Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Circle (Manipal Hospital Junction) on Mysuru-Bengaluru National Highway-275.

The ongoing Rs. 63.67-crore flyover/ grade separator project being taken up by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at Kempegowda Circle has emerged as a major impediment to smooth flow of traffic. Only about 30% of the project work has been completed so far.

Buses entering Mysuru

KSRTC buses entering Mysuru from Bengaluru will now take the revised route from Kempegowda Circle. They will turn left towards the Ring Road and proceed via Pushpashrama Junction and Mahadevapura Road Junction (Sathgalli KSRTC Depot Junction).

From there, the buses will turn right onto Mahadevapura Road and pass through Udayagiri

Signal Junction, Samosa Corner and Kalikamba Junction, before turning right onto Abba Road.

The route will then pass through Government Guest House North Gate Junction, Pilot Circle, B.N. Road, KSRTC Arch Junction, Mini Vidhana Soudha Junction, Hutatma Hemachandra Circle and Hardinge Circle, before reaching the KSRTC Bus Stand.

Buses leaving Mysuru

Buses leaving Mysuru will start from the KSRTC Bus Stand and proceed through Pilot Circle and Government Guest House North Gate. They will then turn left towards Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Circle, Dr. Rajkumar Circle, LIC Circle and Link Road Junction.

From there, buses will take the Old Mysuru-Bengaluru Road, passing Dandina Maramma Temple Junction and the Old Toll Gate, before reaching Kempegowda Circle and rejoining the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway.

Easing major congestion

Kempegowda Junction is a key connection point for vehicles coming from the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway and Ring Road. The junction handles heavy traffic, including goods carriers, KSRTC buses, private buses and other large vehicles.

With flyover construction underway on all 4 sides of the junction, vehicles coming from 10-lane Highway are being forced into a single-lane bottleneck to enter the city, resulting in considerable traffic congestion.

The movement of KSRTC buses from Bengaluru, Mandya, Hassan, Tumakuru, Shivamogga and other districts through the junction has further added to the congestion.

In view of the heavy traffic and the ongoing flyover construction, the City Police Commissioner has ordered the route changes and restrictions. The revised routes will remain in force until completion of the flyover project.

Latkar said, the changes were temporary and had been introduced to ease traffic congestion and ensure the safety of motorists and other road users during the construction period.
