Mysuru: Former Mayor R. Lingappa has welcomed the Mysuru City Corporation’s decision to deliver birth and death certificates to citizens at their doorstep through the postal service.

Until now, applicants had to wait for days and make repeated visits to the Corporation office to collect the certificates. Lingappa said the new arrangement would save citizens from such inconvenience.

He praised Commissioner M.K. Savitha, noting that during her earlier tenure as Deputy Commissioner of the MCC, she had firsthand experience of the difficulties faced by citizens. Now, as Commissioner, she is able to introduce people-friendly measures, he said.

Lingappa also pointed out that citizens continue to face difficulties in obtaining e-Khata documents, with some allegedly having to pay bribes to officials or intermediaries to get the work done.  He urged the Corporation to extend the postal delivery system to e-Khata documents as well, so that they can be sent directly to property heirs.
