Mysuru: Maintaining that the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) of electoral rolls had taken place even under Congress Government, City BJP President L. Nagendra slammed the Congress for raising a hue and cry now over the SIR process taking place across the country.

Addressing a press meet at the BJP Office in Chamarajapuram here this morning, Nagendra, who is also a former MLA, said that the Congress, which earlier raised slogans such as ‘vote chori’ when SIR process began, is now targeting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar by seeking his resignation.

Accusing the Congress of making baseless allegations against the NDA Government and the Election Commission of India (ECI) just because it is losing polls one after the other, he said the Congress is frustrated.

Alleging that the Congress was supporting the CJP (Cockroach Janta Party), he alleged that the Congress along with the CJP were indulged in  creating confusions among people.

On Dasara

Commenting on Dasara preparations, he alleged that barring Sayyaji Rao Road, the authorities seemed to be not carrying out road repair and asphalting works elsewhere in the city. He also wanted to know about the funds granted by the Government for Dasara and its usage.

Asserting that Dasara is not being celebrated differently this year as announced by CM D.K. Shivakumar, Nagendra alleged that Dasara preparations had only led to chaos in the absence of proper guidance.

District  BJP  President Kumbralli Subbanna, who also spoke, criticised that the authorities were out to create a ‘Maya Bazar’ (Market of Illusions) in the minds of people during Dasara.
