Submits memorandum to District Minister

Mysuru: Following the rape and murder of a 10-year-old girl from a nomadic community who was selling balloons and toys in Mysuru during Dasara last year, members of Team Mysuru submitted a memorandum to District in-Charge Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Monday, urging the District Administration to allot a suitable site for such vendor families.

The memorandum sought basic facilities at the designated site, including drinking water, toilets, electricity and bathing facilities, besides CCTV cameras, Police security and night patrols.

It also urged the authorities to record the names, addresses, contact numbers and family details of all traders arriving in Mysuru. Special attention should be given to the safety of women and children.

While Dasara is a festival of grandeur and celebration, the safety of vulnerable vendor families must also be given due importance, the memorandum said.

Team Mysuru members Gokul Govardhan, Kiran Jairam Gowda, Hiriyanna, Krishna Cable, Yathish, Prasanna Raj Guru and Balakrishna were present.
