Mysuru: G.A. Shivalingaiah (94), retired lecturer of Marimallappa’s PU College, an Oriental Researcher and a resident of D. Subbaiah Road, passed away on Oct. 8 in city. He is survived by his grandson and a host of relatives and friends.

After his retirement, Shivalingaiah established Kamalamma Shivalingaiah Religious Endowment organisation and had made a Rs. 35 lakh FD to help poor students in education. Also, he had given Rs. 20 lakh donation to Karnataka Sharana Sahitya Parishat using the interest amount of which the Parishat honours four writers every year.

Last rites were held at the foot of Chamundi Hill on the same day, according to family sources.
