Make art a year-round affair, says renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj
Mysuru: The second edition of Kala Jatre (Art Fair), organised by the Dasara Fine Arts and Handicrafts Sub-Committee in association with the CAVA Alumni Association at the Chamarajendra Government College of Visual Arts (CAVA) premises in Siddarthanagar, concluded yesterday.
Artworks, paintings, sculptures, graphic art and handicrafts created by over 80 professional and amateur artists from Karnataka and neighbouring States attracted art enthusiasts.
Inaugurating the event, renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj suggested setting up a permanent art centre in Mysuru to provide local artists with year-round opportunities to showcase and sell their creations.

He said art activities should not be restricted to a few days but should be organised throughout the year. He also stressed the need for training programmes and workshops for amateur artists and suggested making arrangements for tourists to view and purchase artworks.

He suggested allotting a permanent stall to CAVA at the Dasara Exhibition grounds every year and providing space for its alumni to showcase and sell their works.
