This will be Modi’s second visit to Mysuru in four months. He last visited the city on Aug. 1 to inaugurate Viveka Smaraka (Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre) of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram. His visit, initially scheduled for Oct. 24, was postponed.
On Nov. 13, Modi is also expected to inaugurate a Miyawaki mini forest being developed in the shape of Swachh Bharat Mission logo at K.C. Nagar, foot of Chamundi Hill and next to Veerayodha A.P. Prashanth Park.
During the Nov. 13 visit, Modi is also expected to inaugurate a Miyawaki mini forest being developed in the shape of the Swachh Bharat Mission logo at Kempu Cheluvajammanni Nagar (K.C. Nagar), near the foot of Chamundi Hill and next to Veerayodha A.P. Prashanth Park.
The initiative is being taken up with support from SBI Foundation under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, in collaboration with Catch Foundation. Around 40,000 saplings of 48 indigenous species are being planted at the site.
DC chairs meeting
Preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit are underway, with officials finalising arrangements and security protocols. Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy chaired a meeting at the Zilla Panchayat Office this morning to coordinate the events and venue arrangements.
The planetarium will be the main venue, with the Cosmology Education and Research Training Centre (COSMOS), the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) and the University of Mysore among the key organisers. The venue can accommodate around 160 people, including about 100 students and 60 dignitaries.
The Department of Education has been asked to coordinate student participation from Government and private schools. Officials are also considering a visit by Modi to a nine-acre park in Hootagalli. The programme is yet to be confirmed, pending verification of layout maps and route clearances.
