Mysuru: Former Mayor Sandesh Swamy has alleged that the Congress Government has taxed the people to the tune of Rs.1.5 lakh crore in order to implement its guarantee schemes.

In a press statement, Sandesh Swamy said “The Congress Government claims it is spending Rs. 52,000  crore every year for its guarantee schemes. The Government had claimed that it will accommodate the money for guarantee schemes in the budget. But the Government, instead, has collected about Rs. 1.5 lakh crore in the name of taxes and tariff, thus further burdening the already burdened people.”

Maintaining that the Congress Government raised the rates/fee/ tariff of nearly 200 utilities and services, he said that the steep rise in milk prices and bus fares has left the common man deeply distraught.

He has urged Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to revoke the hiked process and thus come to the aid of common man, according to the statement.
