City artists R. Shivakumar and K.B. Chandrakanth will be displaying their art works during the three-day art exhibition ‘Kalavrushka’ starting from tomorrow (Mar. 3) at Suchitra Art Gallery in Kalamandira organised by Tripura in association with Ramsons Kala Pratishtana.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by H. Channappa, Assistant Director, Department of Kannada and Culture at 6 pm. Artist R.K. Padmanabha, Ramsons Kala Prathistana Secretary R.G. Singh, artists Namgyal and Premanandi will be present.
The art works will be on display between 5 pm and 9 pm every day. Along with Shivakumar and Chandrakanth, artists S. Gowripriya, C.R. Apoorva, Sahitya Ramesh and S. Balasubramanyam will also exhibit their works.
Artist R. Shivakumar is a graduate from Ravi Verma Art Institute in Mysuru and has also completed Bachelor of Fine Arts from Dharwad University. Later, he worked as a lecturer at the institute for three years before assisting artist Priya Selvakumar in her research on Mysuru Traditional Painting. Shivakumar also worked at Doraiswamy Vidya Kula in KRS before starting his career as freelance artist.
Shivakumar has received a number of awards including Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan Award-2011 by Lions Club of Mysore Maharaja, State Level Ravi Verma Academy Trust Award-2015-16 and District Youth Award-2016 among others.
Another artist K.B. Chandrakanth, a native of Arasikere in Hassan, is a BFA graduate from Dharwad University. He is currently working as an Art Teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Hassan.
Chandrakanth has attended national level camp and also camps conducted by Karnataka Chithrakala Parishat. His art works are still on display in Department of Tourism, Hassan; Shanthivana Trust, Dharmasthala and Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya at Mt. Abu.
He has received many awards from Mysuru Dasara Committee, Shanthivana Trust, Dharmasthala; Spandana Kala Parishat, Gadag, Department of Tourism, Hassan among others.
