State-level symposium on ‘Recent Development in Science’

October 15, 2017

Mysuru: ATME College of Engineering (ATMECE) conducted a State-level symposium on “Recent Development in Science, Engineering and Technology” at the college recently.

Chief guest Padma Shri Dr. S.K. Shivakumar, Chairman, KSTA and former Director  ISRO, shared his abundant knowledge and emphasised that there is no success without dedication and hard work.

“One should have an aim or goal without which there is no success. Every day new inventions are being made in the field of science and technology. Materials needed for space craft or space shuttle have to be manufactured in India with the support of private industries. This is to minimise the dependence on European countries,” he said.

Guest of honour, Dr. K.S.M.S. Raghava Rao, Chief Scientist CFTRI, Mysuru, mentioned that the present generation had a lot of employment opportunities but the youth were still in dilemma in choosing their field of interest. “It is the responsibility of parents as well as teachers to guide the youth in selecting their field of interest. This type of programmes will help parents know about the opportunities available in current trends of science and technology and share the knowledge gained,” he said.

He later delivered a keynote address on Food Processing Technology.

L. Arunkumar, Chairman, ATMECE, presided over the function and said technology is an essential part of our lives nowadays and no one can imagine living without technology. It is inevitable to adapt to the changes in technology.

Special invitee former Principal of SJCE Dr. Syed Shakeeb Ur Rehman, ATME Secretary K. Shivashankar, ATMECE Principal Dr. L. Basavaraj and Assistant Professor Dr. K.J. Suresha were present.
