Workshop on ‘Applications of Embedded Systems using NI LabVIEW’ held

November 15, 2017

Mysuru: The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) of ATME College of Engineering (ATMECE), Mysuru, had organised a five-day National- level workshop on ‘Applications of Advanced Embedded Systems using NI LabVIEW and ARDUINO’ recently, in association with NI LabVIEW Academy, Department of ECE, SJB Institute of Technology  (SJBIT), Bengaluru. The event was sponsored by Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers (IETE), Mysuru.

The resource persons for the workshop were Dr. A.V. Ravikumar,  Associate Professor and Chief Coordinator, Shreenidhi and Nagarjun Gowda, LabVIEW Academy (SJBIT), Bengaluru, M.B. Darshini,  Assistant Professor and V. Kishan from ATMECE.

The workshop mainly focused on LABVIEW, a graphical programming environment used to develop sophisticated measurement, test and control systems as well as interface with Arduino.

Arduino is an open-source platform used for building electronics projects. Arduino consists of both physical programmable circuit board (often referred to as a micro-controller) and a piece of software or IDE (Integrated Development Environment) that runs on computer, used to write and upload computer code on to the physical board.

This course provides the participants the knowledge and expertise to explore concepts with accelerated learning, and enables them to seamlessly apply their knowledge to design experiments and develop their own applications with hardware.

The workshop was coordinated by Chief Coordinator Dr. P.K. Mahesh, Head, Department of ECE, Conveners Dr. L. Yathisha  and A.C. Pavithra and Co-Conveners Amrith Poonacha and M. Girish, Assistant Professors, Department of ECE, ATME with Dr. L. Basavaraj, Principal, ATME, Mysuru, as Organising Chair.

On the last day, a mini project competition was conducted. The first prize, with a cash prize of Rs. 2000, was bagged by one of the teams from Coorg Institute of Technology (CIT), Ponnampet. Two teams, one each from GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW) and ATMECE won consolation prizes. Elintz Lab, Bengaluru, provided the hardware kits which were procured by ATMECE.
