4th Zen Sports Karate Championship: Deia Urs wins silver

Deia Urs, a I PU student of Vidvardhaka Sangha Golden Jubilee PU College, Kuvempunagar won silver medal in the Girls Open Grand Championship Kata Category at the recently held 4th Zen Sports Karate Championship at Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru.

In the quarter-finals she defeated Anika of Kerala 5-0 and in the semi-finals she defeated Harshita of Bengaluru 5-0. However, she lost to Tamil Nadu’s Puneethavathi by a slender margin of 3-2 in the finals.

The Championship was organised by M.G. Prasad, Master Fitness Trainer and Coach, Indian National Karate Team and Head of Zen Sports and Fitness, Bengaluru.  Around 700 participants from 15 States and also from Sri Lanka, Muscat and Iran took part in the championship.  Deia is trained by her father B.S. Srinath Urs. Both practice under Sensei E.S. Kumar of Shuko Kai Shito Ryu Karate Do of India and Shihan C.S. Arun Machaiah, President, All India Shito Ryu Karate Do Federation.
