Mysuru: A city Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment besides imposing a penalty of Rs. 8,000 on him for killing his wife. Puttaswamy, 57, of Beeramballi Village in H.D. Kote taluk is the one who has been sentenced. Puttaswamy had married Nagamma 32 years ago and the couple led a happy life for a few years.
But domestic disharmony creeped in later and Puttaswamy, suspecting wife Nagamma’s fidelity, set her ablaze by dousing kerosene in a fit of rage on Dec.7,2013. Nagamma, who sustained serious burn injuries was admitted to K.R. Hospital, where she breathed her last on Dec. 11, 2013.
Beechanahalli Police, who had registered a case in this regard, had filed charge-sheet against Puttaswamy in the Court.
The Fifth Additional District and Sessions Court Judge C.M. Joshi, who heard the case, held Puttaswamy guilty of the chargers and sentenced him to life.
Public Prosecutor C. Nagappa argued on behalf of the State.
