Mysuru: A resident of Mysuru has been found dead under mysterious circumstances at his wife’s place in Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh. While the victim’s family members have alleged that his wife is involved in the murder, the wife has claimed innocence and has stated that she was not aware of his death. A case in this regard has been booked at Nellore Police Station and the investigators are awaiting the post-mortem report.

The victim is 31-year-old Soori Babu, son of late Narayana and a resident of Gandhinagar 11th Cross in city. He used to work in hotels and his last job was at Keerthi Lodge at Mandi Mohalla. According to family members, he left to Nellore on Dec. 22 (Friday) and before his trip, Soori Babu had pledged a gold bracelet at Chandru Pawn Brokers on 6th Cross and had taken Rs. 30,000.

He informed his mother that he would be going to his wife Shanthi’s native in Andhra Pradesh and had left home on the same day. According to Soori Babu’s mother, her daughter-in-law came to Mysuru on Sunday (Dec. 24) and she had Rs. 20,000 cash and her son’s mobile phone.

On questioning, Shanthi told her mother-in-law that Soori Babu had come to Nellore and after spending a day, they decided to return to Mysuru. She told her that both of them started from Nellore and at the Bengaluru Railway Station, Soori Babu told her that he would go to the toilet and had handed over the Rs. 20,000 cash and the mobile phone to her.

Shanthi told her mother-in-law that she waited for her husband at the Railway Station for many hours before informing her (Shanthi’s) relatives who helped her board a train to Mysuru. Suspicious over her daughter-in-law’s version as the couple was not in good terms, Soori Babu’s mother informed her relatives and decided to file a missing complaint.

Meanwhile, Soori Babu’s body was found at a lake in Nellore and the Udayagiri Police (in Nellore) could establish his identity as they had got the receipt issued by Chandru Pawn Brokers for the gold bracelet he had mortgaged for Rs. 30,000. The Udayagiri Police, after booking a UDR (Unidentified Death Report) case, immediately contacted Chandru Pawn Brokers and informed about the dead body.

Soori Babu’s parents were alerted by the pawn broker shop staff and the family members contacted the Udayagiri Police and after establishing the antecedents, the Police agreed to send the dead body to Mysuru after performing post-mortem. The Police said that as of now, they have registered an UDR case and they would wait for the post-mortem report.

Family members have suspected that Shanthi would have killed Soori Babu along with the help of her relatives and friends and had narrated a different story to fool them. They have told the Nellore Police that there was no understanding between the couple and fought frequently.

Soori Babu’s body is expected to come to Mysuru this evening.
