Mysuru: The MCC officials recently held an awareness programme on the steps to be taken by the residents during the Swachh Survekshan at SBM Park in Sriramapura at the instance of Mysore Bank Colony Residents Cultural and Welfare Association.

Speaking on the occasion, MCC Assistant Commissioner Javaregowda requested the residents to ensure segregation of garbage into dry and wet at the doorstep itself before handing them over to the Pourakarmikas.

He called for steps to be initiated by the residents to prevent dumping of garbage on roadsides by taking photos with vehicle numbers and forwarding them to the MCC who will penalise the offenders. CCTV cameras will also be installed at vantage points to catch the culprits, he added.

He requested the residents to have garbage pits at their home compounds itself and dump the wet waste there to produce compost which the farmers are ready to accept for their fields as organic fertiliser.

Deepthi, MCC Environment Engineer, requested the residents to download the Swachhata app on their smart phones and register themselves as app users and register their complaints of garbage dumping by uploading the photos through the app which would help the MCC to clear the garbage within 12 hours and also increase the number of active app users in Mysuru to support the ranking of Mysuru city in the competition.

A demo was also held to guide the public how to use the app in uploading photos and registering complaints online.

Apart from this, some residents complained about the nuisance they were facing on account of vacant sites becoming jungles and sought immediate action by the MCC or MUDA.
