Allotment of CA site to Azeez Sait Bhavan opposed

January 20, 2018

Mysuru: The Mysuru Rakshana Vedike has demanded cancellation of the allotment of a CA site to construct Azeez Sait Bhavan at Devanur First Stage near Rajivnagar.

Addressing a press conference at the Patrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, President of the Vedike Premkumar said that two acres of land meant for a residential layout in Devanur First Stage has been allotted to Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

He said that Sait had applied for the CA site mentioning that it was meant for the construction of the Bhavan for SC, ST, Minorities and the poor to promote social, cultural and educational activities.

However, Premkumar pointed out that the two acre land that belonged to MUDA had about 36 sites measuring 40 ft x 60 ft  and it was distributed to the site applicants long back. Since the allottees found the place unsuitable, they were given alternative sites.

He charged that this was deliberately done to benefit Sait who had applied for the site in 2013-14. The MUDA officials, a few politicians and the Minister had colluded to bag the prime land, which could cost over Rs.25 crore, he alleged.

The layout was formed in 1988 and the map showed it. But at the meeting held on 5.8.2017 and on 28.8.2017, a decision was taken to approve the allotment of the land by converting it into a Civic Amenities Site, which is illegal, said Mohan, Advisor to the Vedike.

They said that they were not opposing the allotment of CA site to Sait, but what they were opposing was the illegal allotment and they charged that there was corruption involved.

Premkumar said that they would write to the Urban Development Department regarding the irregularities and if no action is taken then they would resort to an agitation.

MUDA Comr. clarifies

When contacted, MUDA Commissioner P.S. Kantharaju clarified that they had not yet allotted these sites for the construction of the said Bhavan.

“We will verify about the project again and then we will take a decision,” he said.
