BJP workers mob Nazarbad Police Station

Mysuru: Accusing the Police of assaulting three of its leaders, BJP  activists mobbed Nazarbad Police Station here last evening.

City BJP Yuva Morcha President Gokul Govardhan, who is also an advocate, party leaders Harsha and Nithin, had been to Nazarbad Police Station to lodge a complaint alleging that one Chinnathambi was illegally using a parcel of land belonging to MUDA in Ittigegud as vehicle parking space, when the Police are said to have assaulted the three and locked them up.

Soon as the news spread, hundreds of BJP activists mobbed the Nazarbad Police Station and demanded the suspension of PSI Yellalinga and other Police personnel.

MP Pratap Simha, who arrived at the Police Station after learning about the incident, said that the Police had assaulted BJP leaders for no reason.

The Police, in order to hide their act, had switched off the CCTV camera inside the Police Station, he alleged and demanded action against the errant Policemen. After Pratap Simha left, Minister Tanveer Sait and MLA Vasu,  who were passing by, stopped at the Police Station after seeing the huge crowd.

Tanveer Sait pacified the agitated BJP workers, saying that action will be taken against the Policemen, if they were found guilty.

BJP General Secretary M.V. Ravishankar, City BJP President Dr. B.H. Manjunath, leaders Rajendra and H.V. Rajeev and other top leaders arrived at the Police Station and discussed the matter with DCP N. Vishnuvardhana.

Later BJP workers formed human chain at Nazarbad Circle to register their protest and dispersed from the spot only after the Nazarbad Police released the three leaders late night.

DCP N. Vishnuvardhana said that PSI Yellalinga, Gokul Govardhan and Mysuru Bar Association have lodged separate complaints and action will be taken after a probe.
