February 1, 2018

Mysuru: Three students were killed while two more sustained serious injuries when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a divider, electric pole and toppled on the Ring Road   near Dattagalli here yesterday afternoon.

The deceased students have been identified as Mohammed Farhan (22), son of Nasrulla, a resident of Hunsur and a first year BBM student at St. Joseph’s College, Mysuru, Syed Aseem (21), son of Alla Baksh of N.R. Mohalla and Divya (20), daughter of Veeresh, a B.Sc student at Maharani’s College and a resident of T.K. Layout.

The seriously injured who have been identified as 23-year-old Rayanulla Rehman, a Hunsur College student and 21-year-old Spoorthi, a student of SJCE and a resident of Kuvempunagar, are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in city.

The incident: Mohammed Farhan and Aseem, who had written their BBM exams had passed in the exams for which the results were announced on Tuesday and had decided to party, it is learnt.

They then informed their friends and Rehman brought a Hyundai Verna car (KA-09 MA-6116) of his uncle Car Babu and the three also took their friends Divya and Spoorthi along with them.

At about 2.30 pm, when they were proceeding on the Ring Road from Bogadi side, Rehman, who was behind the wheels, lost control of the vehicle near the CESC office and hit a roadside divider. Eyewitnesses told Police that the impact was such that the car after hitting a roadside divider, jumped about 8 ft. high, hit an electric pole and toppled three times resulting in the rear door of the car getting detached.

Farhan, Aseem and Divya, who were seated behind were thrown out of the car to the road resulting in their deaths instantly. As the air bags installed in the car opened, Spoorthi and Rehman survived though they suffered serious injuries.

Kuvempunagar Traffic Police, who immediately rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and shifted the bodies. A case has been registered at Kuvempunagar Traffic Police Station and K.R. Traffic Inspector Manjunath is investigating.

The car, which was involved in the accident, was previously owned by former Mayor R. Lingappa who had sold it to one Shashank, through Car Babu, who owns a car showroom near NIE College here. Shashank, who had bought the car, had given it to Car Babu to sell it about 15 days back and Car Babu who had obtained Shashank’s signatures on Form 29 and 30, had kept the car in the showroom. But yesterday, Car Babu gave the car to his sister’s son Rehman.

As per the documents, the car is in the name of Shashank, but Car Babu claims to be the owner of the car, as he has obtained signatures of Shashank on Form 29 and 30, the Police said.

Meanwhile, the seriously injured Spoorthi and Rehman, who are undergoing treatment at a private hospital here, are said to be critical.

My son never had breakfast with me. But yesterday morning before going to the college, he sat with me and had breakfast and left for the college happily. Now,  he has left everyone suddenly and I don’t know how to cope up without him.”

—Alla Baksh (Deceased Syed Aseem’s father).

I was afraid of giving money to children thinking that they may get spoilt, hence I was not giving more money to Farhan. Yesterday, he forced me for more money and I gave him how much he wanted and sent him happily. When I got the news yesterday afternoon, I was shocked. I don’t know what to do now.”

—Nasrulla (Deceased Farhan’s father).

RTO , should implement the cars not sold without transfer. with regards to bifircation of some RSS bhakths, rather counting of no of lifes lost and injured, they start painting saffron and green paints.

  5. david says:

Non Bailable 1 month prison should be imposed on parents who allow the bikes and cars to their kids below 18.
This is become serious careless trend for people to pamper and allow kids to flaunt their parents money.
immediate rule implementation is needed to jail the parents for 1 month minimum without bail if their kids found driving the vehicles without licence.
Driving cars, age limit should be increased from 18 to 21 , considering the kids who are still immature to be given a car.

  7. ronald says:

Yes, tell Mullas also to have broad mind. Recently in Kerala A lecturers hand was chopped off for just speaking to a Muslim Girl. Let muslims be broadminded. They make their females to wear burkha and will not allow them to even speak with other religion males.
