Kollegal: The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) fake marks card racket has singed the aspirations of a youth, who tried to hoodwink the Government by demanding job on compassionate grounds after the passing away of his father.

Mysuru Shaktinagar resident Manoj is the one who stands as an accused for submitting a fake marks card of the KSOU to  the Revenue Department.

Kollegal Tahsildar Kamakshamma has filed a criminal case against Manoj in the Kollegal Town Police Station.

Incident: Manoj’s father Mouneshwaraiah was working as a Village Accountant in Belathur village of Kollegal taluk.

While in service he passed away on Nov.30, 2014. Hence, his wife Vijayalakshmi wrote to the Deputy Commissioner to give the job to her son Manoj on compassionate grounds. Manoj who had submitted an application for the job had attached the marks card of the KSOU BA degree. Based on this application, the Kollegal Tahsildar had recommended the DC to give him the post of First Division Assistant (FDA).

However, since Manoj had passed the BA examination in the year 2013-14 and the Higher Education Department had de-recognised the degrees of KSOU from 2012-13, the Government refused to give him the FDA’s job. But based on his PUC marks card it had offered him a Second Division Assistant’s (SDA) job.

Manoj, however, refused to join the post offered and instead approached the High Court appealing it to consider him for the FDA’s job based on his BA degree. In the light of this background when his marks card was sent to KSOU for verification, it was revealed that it was a fake marks card.

There was no record to show that Manoj had appeared for a BA examination in KSOU nor were there any other records to show that he was a student of the Open University.

Some of the officials and staff, who were in cahoots with the IEM Printers’ employees in printing the  fake marks card, had printed a fake marks card and given it to Manoj, said a report from the KSOU, written to the Tahsildar.

The Tashildar based on this report filed a complaint with the Kollegal Police who under IPC Sections 465, 468, 471 and 420, registered a complaint against Manoj and are continuing with the investigation.
