Mysuru:  Floral tributes were paid to the portrait of former leader and Melukote MLA K.S. Puttannaiah who passed away recently, at a condolence meeting (Nudi Namana) organised jointly by KRRS, Jana Sangrama Parishat, Swaraj India, CPI, CPI(M), DSS and a host of other organisations at Town Hall in city recently.

The meeting was titled ‘Dudiyuvavara Dhwani K.S. Puttannaiahnavarige Ondu Namana.’

Addressing the condolence meeting, KRRS leader Badagalapura Nagendra said that farmers across the State were yet to come out of the grief over the sudden demise of K.S. Puttannaiah.

Terming Puttannaiah as a great farmer leader, he said that although he is physically dead, Puttannaiah is very much alive in the hearts of lakhs of farmers.

Stating that the farmer leader loved nature very much, Nagendra said that the farming community had suffered a great loss with his death.

Dr. C. Krishna, former Director, DPE, University of Mysore (UoM), in his address, said that Puttannaiah apart from being a top farmer leader was a good sportsperson.

Pointing out that Puttannaiah’s native village Kyatanahalli in Pandavapura taluk was perhaps the only village in the State to have a Stadium, he said that as a sports lover himself, Puttannaiah always promoted native sports.

Former Speaker Krishna presided over the meeting. CPI(M) leader Basavaraj, CPI leader Seshadri, former Rangayana Director H. Janardhan, KRRS leader Pachhe Nanjundaswamy, P. Mallesh, K.S. Bhagawan and others were present.
