A week-long exhibition of paintings and sculptures, organised by Shri Ravivarma Art Institute, Mysuru, in association with Kannada and Culture Department, began at the Institute premises in Chamarajapuram here yesterday.
The paintings and sculptures displayed at the expo were the creations of final year students of the Institute.
Speaking after inaugurating the expo, actor and theatrist Mandya Ramesh said that during ancient civilization, people used to draw on the walls of caves. The art forms, which commenced then, is still being used to express feelings and emotions, he added.
He opined that a single painting can express many emotions than even many dramas could not express and added that theatre and film is incomplete without artists.
On the occasion, National award-winning artists K. Suresh of Mysuru and Satish Multhalli from Haveri were felicitated.
Former Rangayana Director H. Janardhan, senior artist Prabhu Harasoor, Institute’s Secretary Shubhamani, Principal Shivakumar Kesaramadu and others were present.
The expo is open to public from 10 am to 5 pm till Mar. 24.
