Holy Week celebrations at City Churches

Mysuru:  The season of Lent is special to every Christian as it calls for the change of heart, that too the Holy Week — beginning from Palm Sunday till Easter Sunday.

There was a solemn beginning of this week of special grace with the Palm Sunday celebrations held at St. Joseph’s Cathedral (St. Philomena’s Church) with Bishop of Mysuru Most Rev. Dr. K. A. William presiding over the Eucharist besides leading the faithful to enter into the Holy Week.

Mar. 29: Maundy Thursday; Holy Eucharist will be presided over by the Bishop of Mysuru at 6 pm.

Mar. 30: Good Friday services will be presided over by the Bishop of Mysuru at 5 pm.

Mar. 31: Easter Vigil celebrations will begin at 10.30 pm on Holy Saturday.

Apr. 1: Easter Sunday will be celebrated and the Bishop will offer Holy Eucharist in the Cathedral at 7 am and at 8.30 am. The Easter celebrations will conclude in the Cathedral with a short procession by carrying the statue of the Resurrected Christ on Easter Sunday after the evening Mass.

Special arrangements are made for the sacrament of Reconciliation on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday from morning till evening. The faithfuls are requested to make use of the opportunity.

Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church, Srirampura

On account of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday, Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church at Srirampura too has organised special mass at its premises.

On Mar. 29 at 6pm, Maundy Thursday mass will be held followed by washing of the feet of 12 persons by Rev. Fr. Raymond. For adoration, the Church will be open till midnight.  

On Mar. 30, Adoration will be held from 6 am to 2 pm.  From 2pm, Way of the Cross, followed by Good Friday Service by Rev. Msgr. C. Rayappa.

On Mar. 31 (Holy Saturday), Easter Vision by Rev. Msgr. C. Rayappa from 10.30 pm.

On Apr. 1 (Easter Sunday), Holy Eucharist celebration will be held at 8.30am, according to a press release from the  Parish Priest, Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church, Srirampura, Mysuru.
