Suggestions to Railways

April 3, 2018

Sir,

As a frequent traveller, I have a few passenger-friendly suggestions to the Railways.

  1. Mysuru City Railway Station is a heritage structure till K.R. Hospital but the entry and exit points at the Circle is very narrow. As a result, passengers are inconvenienced. Autos, two-wheelers, cars and other big motor vehicles have to enter and exit in that very narrow way. When a train arrives or departs from the Railway Station, the walking public find it difficult to pass by the narrow arch. Railway authorities may construct another arch for exit using the present arch as entry way. This will ease passenger and vehicle rush at the otherwise crowded arch-way.
  2. One building nearby is rented out to a private hotel. The building could have been built to go with the heritage nature of the Station. The parked vehicles hinder the flow of pedestrians. Also, the footpath at that place is encroached by the waiting autos.
  3. A very small place at the corner of Railway Station building is used for Train Reservation booking which can be shifted to CFTRI gate side with a new or the existing building. The present Reservation Counter can be converted into general ticket issuing counter whereby the aged people, women and family group can buy the ticket and use the subway. This way the outbound passengers can use the under- pass. This also avoids chaos at the general ticket counter.
  4. SWR gets huge rentals from two-wheeler and car parking in the area. The facility can be improved with a multi-storied parking lot as at present there is no roof in the parking lot.
  5. All the hoardings at the Railway Station must be removed to retain the heritage value of the building.

I request the SWR authorities to consider implementation of these and make it a passenger-friendly Station.
