The Institution of Engineers-India (IEI), Mysore Local Centre, had organised a technical talk on ‘Kitchen Waste based Bio-Gas Plant’ at S.P. Bhat Hall in the Institution premises on JLB Road in city recently.
Sham Sunder, Head-NIE Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies (CREST), was the guest speaker.
The talk was aimed at creating a sense of responsibility among Engineers and public towards the current LPG crises and inspiring them to take action to spread awareness on Kitchen Waste based Bio-Gas Plant.
Sham Sunder explained the production methodologies to generate gas using kitchen wastes like leftover food, vegetable & fruit peel offs, non-edible flour, starch etc. The bio-gas can be effectively used for cooking and also to generate power for plants with capacity of more than 1000 kg per day.
Suma Sham Sunder shared her experience of using Kitchen Waste Bio-Gas Plant since 8 years in her residence.
IEI Mysore Chairman M. Chinnaswamy, Hon. Secretary B.V. Ravindranath and KREDL Project Engineer D.K. Dinesh Kumar were present.
