November 7, 2026

Mysuru: Instilling the spirit of charity, humanity and mutual sharing among children from a young age is extremely important, said Hunsur MLA G.D. Harish Gowda

He was speaking after inaugurating the Danotsava-2026 and 71st Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations organised jointly by HEARt Organisation and Mysore International School at the school premises located near Kenchalagudu Gate in Jayapura hobli, here recently.

Appreciating the initiative of HEARt foundation in fostering value-based qualities among children, the MLA noted that children bringing a handful of grains from their homes and donating them to the Hrudaya Spandana Elderly Care Centre was a commendable step towards nurturing humanitarian values.

Harish Gowda expressed happiness over the students of an English-medium school speaking Kannada fluently during the Rajyotsava celebrations.

Emphasising that education should not be limited to academic marks alone, he urged teachers to identify and nurture students’ talent in arts, culture, sports and other fields, thereby enhancing their confidence and skills.

Department of Kannada and Culture Joint Director Nirmala Mathapati, who spoke on the occasion, stated that Kannada was not merely a means of communication but a reflection of values, traditions and culture of people of Karnataka.

She emphasised that learning through mother tongue enhances children’s expression and confidence.

In his introductory remarks, Shivakumar, Founder-President of HEARt Organisation, said that Danotsava is celebrated with the objective of instilling generosity, compassion and harmonious living among children from an early age.
