A Music and Dance Filled Ode to the Goddess

Mysuru: Mysore Open Forum has organised ‘Shakti Swaroopini Devi — A Music & Dance filled Ode to the Goddess’ at 6.30 pm on Oct.12 at Kalpa Kshetra auditorium, 581/1, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 1st Phase, Mysuru [Mob: 94498-19536].

Devi, Durga, Kali, Shakti, Mata are synonyms for the Divine Goddess revered all over India in widely different formats utilising various languages. The programme will pay obeisance to the Goddess using Kathakali, South Indian Classical Music, Folk Music, Story-telling and visual media involving Devi worship from different parts of India.

The programme curated by Madhavi Menon and Sridevi Iyengar will feature other artistes to provide accompaniment and singing. Well-known kritis on the Goddess will be featured.

Madhavi from New Delhi is a story-teller and theatre personality who uses the Kathakali dance form to narrate stories. Sridevi Iyengar is an accomplished Karnatak musician currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Music from the University of Madras.

Apart from paying obeisance to Devi, the programme will showcase different forms of worshipping Devi in India.
