A pragmatic solution to Cauvery water dispute

October 13, 2023

Sir,

The suggestion by V.R. Venugopal for resolving the Cauvery water dispute is highly commendable and pragmatic (SOM dated Oct.9, 2023). In the present highly advanced technological days, drilling an underground tunnel from Linganamakki Dam to Shivanasamudra is definitely possible, of course with huge funds from the contesting players including Central Government. Besides, this will help in conserving water and preventing enormous water wastage.

After studying its feasibility by a duly constituted committee consisting of members from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and the Centre, needful action on a war-footing is the order of the day.

Sanguine, wisdom prevails on the politicians of both the Riparian States.
