A ride after the Jumbo Walk…

October 14, 2026

Mysuru: Yesterday’s weight training exercise saw Sugreeva carrying the wooden howdah with sand bags in it and walking majestically on Jumboo Savari route to reach the Torchlight Parade Grounds in Bannimantap.

He walked from Mysore Palace till the Torchlight Parade Grounds by carrying over 500-kg weight in one hour and 30 minutes.

As Roopa and Mahendra were taking part in the rituals at Mysore Palace, the two elephants did not take part in yesterday’s training.

Other 11 Dasara elephants left the Palace at about 6.30 pm and reached Bannimantap Torchlight Parade Grounds at about 8 pm.

As all Dasara elephants are brought back to the Palace in trucks after the Jumboo Savari procession on Vijayadashami day, all the 11 Dasara jumbos were given a ride in trucks back to the Palace yesterday.
