A tribute to Dr. B.N. Maruthi

April 9, 2022

Sir,

Normally we say that the world is full of selfish, corrupt and bad people. But there are selfless, society-oriented and good people also amidst us. One such is Dr. B.N. Maruthi, who left this world on 30.3.2022.  He was only 57 years and was a role model for all of us.

He did his M.Sc., Chemistry in Central College, Bangalore and  served as Lecturer for sometime. Then he was selected as Quality Control Manager at AT&S Company, Nanjangud, where he served for about 20 years. He took voluntary retirement and was Director of Mysore Organic Limited. An Agricultural Scientist, he improved the species of Nanjangud Rasabale in his Laboratory and supplied the plants to farmers.

He was an Hon. Director of Arivu School — for children up to 7th std. — and the theme of the institution is “Learning through activity” where the children are given full freedom to keep the school clean, grow plants and to  involve themselves in different sports and cultural activities.

Dr. Maruthi was a Founder-Trustee and President of Sri Pathanjali Yoga Foundation, which teaches yoga free of cost to all sections of society. He was also the President of Yoga Federation, Mysore. A yoga expert, he had taught yoga to thousands of students.

I was a Trustee of Pathanjali Yoga Foundation for the past 16 years and had an opportunity to work with him.  Even when he was ill, he was very calm and used to console us instead of we consoling him.  Such a noble man is no more with us.  The best way to show our respects to him is to follow his footprints in our life.

Maruthi Anna, physically you are not with us, but you are very much in our hearts.
