Aadhaar deactivation !?

February 11, 2019

Sir,

I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned regarding a report about deactivation of Aadhaar for not using it over a certain period of time.

The news — elsewhere — regarding Aadhaar number getting deactivated if it remains unused for a period of three years can do nothing but give a shock to the public in general. The fundamental problem here is that unlike credit/debit cards or internet banking, Aadhaar card does not find a place in day-to-day activities of most of the people. Such deactivation can take place only on the death of the holder than otherwise.

If reports about Aadhaar getting deactivated are true, it is called upon the concerned to set right the error, if any, and free the citizens from the stress of such a situation.
