Aadhaar mandatory for dialysis in Govt. Hospitals

June 18, 2025

In a move aimed at maintaining transparency, the State Government has issued an order making it mandatory for kidney patients to get Aadhaar authentication for dialysis treatment in all Government Hospitals.

With the Government deciding to launch the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP) through Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust, the order said that Aadhaar authentication with DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer)  is mandatory for those seeking dialysis. At the same time, the order clarified that dialysis cannot be denied to patient of any age for want of Aadhaar. In such circumstances, the Health Department will accept any other ID cards and a registry should be maintained in respect of such patients. The PMNDP is a Government initiative launched in 2016 as part of the National Health Mission (NHM) to provide free dialysis service to the poor, specifically those below the poverty line (BPL) beneficiaries, at District Hospitals across the country.
