Mysuru: As part of Abdhipurva Utsava ‘Ra.Sa. 100’ to be held across the State, Brahmavidya (recognised by Karnataka Sanskrit University, Bengaluru) and DVG Balaga Pratishtana have jointly organised a three-day Indian Musicology Festival at Mysore Vasudevacharya Bhavana on JLB Road in city from Aug. 11 to 13 at 5.30 pm everyday.
This celebration honours the enduring legacy of the distinguished musicologist and Indologist, Padma Shri Mahamahopadhyaya Dr. R. Sathyanarayana. The 3-day young masters’ musical extravaganza will feature a stellar line-up of performances by renowned and emerging artistes. Each evening will include insightful ‘Arogya Dinachari’ sessions on health and lifestyle by Ayurveda experts and captivating ‘Kannada Kavya Vachana’ (poetry recitals).
Aug. 11: The festival kicks off with unique musical features, including ‘Nanda Gaana’ by Vid. M.R. Shree Harsha and ‘Vachana Pada Vaidya’, a presentation on the Indian medicine system through song by Vid. M.S. Kousthubh and his troupe.
Aug. 12: The second day will feature a Karnatak vocal concert by Vid. S.N. Sumukha Srivatsa, a duet by the Srikantham Sisters (Vidushi Nagadeepti and Vidushi Nagapranati) and a percussive ensemble, ‘Layalahari’ led by Vidwan H.L. Shivashankar Swamy.
Aug. 13: The grand finale will be the prestigious awards ceremony. The evening will also include a special ‘RaSa Sangeetha Goshti,’ a musical ensemble directed by Dr. Ambika Shastri. 50 young stalwarts who are from Bharateeya Matanga Samskrtika Samajika Academy and Brahmavidya will participate in this unique musical feature.
On the final day, esteemed scholars and artistes will be honoured with commemorative awards — ‘Veda Shastra Suri’ to Prof. Dr. Yagneshwara S. Shastri, Pro-Chancellor of Sanchi University; ‘Ayurveda Shastra Suri’ to Prof. Dr. Ahalya Sharma, VC of Karnataka Samskrit University; RaSa Commemorative Award to Vidu. Parwathi Dutta of Mahagami Gurukul, Aurangabad and Prof. Dr. Gianni Pellegrini from University of Turin, Italy.
Veena exponent Dr. R. Visweswaran will chair. Mysore Palace Board T.S. Subramanya and Maharani Cluster University Dy. Registrar Dr. Srikantham Nagendra Shastry will be the chief guests.
