Mysore/Mysuru:  Various achievers were conferred Acharya Vidyaranya Rajyotsava Award at a programme organised under the aegis of Himalaya Foundation at District Kannada Sahitya Parishat in Vijayanagar here recently.

Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji, the Junior Pontiff of Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashram , said that identifying the achievers and honouring them itself is an achievement.

Sanskrit Scholar Dr. K. Leela Prakash explained how Acharya Vidyaranya rejuvenated the Hindu religion.

District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal regretted that Kannada is being neglected by our political leaders, bureaucracy and the like.

Dr. H.A. Parshvanath (The-atre), K.T. Balaramegowda (Sports), Mugur Madhu Dikshith (Astrology), M.V. Shantakumari (Music), M. Mohankumar Gowda (Kannada movement), Jayanti Bhat (Music), Shashikala (Cinema), Nandini Murthy (Yoga therapy), Prakash Babu (Journalism), M.P. Prabhuswamy (Education), H.L.Cheluvaraju (Literature) and R. Shruthi (Compering) were conferred the   Acharya Vidyaranya  Award.

Poet M. Muthuswamy, artist Dr. Jamunarani Mirle, Foundation President N. Anantha, Convenor M.V. Nagendra Babu, Secretary Harshavardhan, Journalist Mahesh, Hindu Rashtriya Samiti President Vikas Shastri and others were present.
