ACP, Head Constable suspended for helping drug accused

Bengaluru: The Police Department yesterday suspended an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and a Head Constable (HC) attached to Bengaluru CCB (Central Crime Branch) for leaking pertinent information to some of the accused in the Sandalwood Drug racket case.

The suspended are ACP M.R. Mudhavi and HC Mallikarjuna.

After realising that some of their leads in the drug racket case were being leaked, the CCB identified ACP M.R. Mudhavi and HC Mallikarjuna as the culprits, following which the Police Department  suspended them on Wednesday. ACP Mudhavi has been accused of passing on information to arrested socialite and event manager Viren Khanna, in exchange for Rs. 50 lakh cash, while HC Mallikarjuna has been accused of colluding with the accused and sharing confidential information with associates of the accused.
