Action plan readied to develop Kalamandira: DC Randeep

“District Administration has prepared an action plan to carry out development works at Kalamandira,” said Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, here yesterday.

Speaking after inaugurating the four-day bhajan, tatvapada, tabla  and mangalavadya workshop and distributing musical instruments under the aegis of Department of Kannada and Culture for SC/ST candidates at Maneyangala in Kalamandira, he said that the mini theatre being built in the Kalamandira campus will be soon made available for public.

He also said that works on developing the park located in the premises, construction of two rehearsal sheds for amateur troupes and amphitheatre would be taken up soon.  

Speaking on the occasion, Folklorist Dr. P.K. Rajashekar urged artistes to utilise the funds and programmes announced by the Kannada and Culture Department for encouraging folk arts.

The four-day workshop features artistes Devananda Varaprasad, P. Ravi Kumar and Raghu conducting classes on tatvapada, saxophone and tabla. Kannada & Culture Assistant Director H. Chennappa  was present.
