Mysore/Mysuru: Kannada activists, led by noted littérateurs Dr. C.P. Krishnakumar (CPK) and Prof. K.S. Bhagawan, staged a protest in front of the DC’s office in city yesterday, urging the Government to allow writing Bank Exams in Kannada.
The agitators contended that Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has allowed writing Bank Exams in regional languages. But the Union Government was not implementing that order and showing its anti-Kannada attitude. Over 3,000 posts are vacant in 11 Banks including Canara Bank. Since the candidates are allowed to write only in English and Hindi languages, the Kannadiga candidates were denied of job opportunities. Unfortunately, 25 BJP MPs from Karnataka have maintained a stoic silence on this issue. Even Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was reluctant to get this approved at the Government level, they added.
Mysuru Hotel Owners’ Association President C. Narayanagowda, social worker Raghuram Vajpayee, former District President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Maddikere Gopal, Mysuru District Kannada Activists Association President B.A. Shivashankar and others were present.
