Actor Shivarajkumar hits ‘powerful’ shot to boundary

Two-day State-level Sports Meet of  Karnataka State Licensed Electrical Contractors Association concluded successfully at Maharaja’s College Grounds in the city on June 24.

Hat-trick Hero Shivarajkumar aka Shivanna was the star attraction, who graced the event along with his wife and film producer Geetha Shivarajkumar.

Shivarajkumar congratulated the organisers of the sports meet and described it as a good initiative in the interest of physical and mental well-being.

Shivarajkumar, who is also a cricket fan, showed his batting skill by hitting a ball to the boundary, over the head of those gathered around.

MLA G.T. Devegowda distributed prizes to winners of various sports events and said: “The electrical contractors play a big role in providing electricity to the houses of the poor and farmers.

With the big players venturing into contract, the small contractors are feeling the heat as told by Association President C. Ramesh. I will speak to Energy Minister in this regard.”

Earlier, Krishnaraja MLA T.S. Srivatsa and Mayor Shivakumar inaugurated the Athletics Meet in the morning.

In men’s cricket, Udupi team emerged winner securing first place, followed by Bengaluru second and Bengaluru Central team third place.

In Tug-of-War, Dakshina Kannada came first, Udupi – second and Bengaluru Central – third.

The other competitions included Musical Chair and 100-metre run, while for women, Rangoli, Musical Chair, Ball Passing, 100-metre Run, Lemon and Spoon Race, Hitting-the-Wicket, Book Balancing and Shuttle Badminton contests were conducted and several participants won prizes.

General Secretary of Karnataka State Licensed Electrical Contractors Association Chandrababu, President of State Youth Empowerment, Sports and Information Technology Committee C.V. Mallikarjun and District President Raghavendra were present.
