MUDA to allow parking of trucks at ‘Industrial A Layout’ vacant plots

Mysore/Mysuru: Addressing the problem of parking of Mysore New Goods Terminal (MNGT) lorries, Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman H.V. Rajeev said at a press conference on Monday that trucks can temporarily be parked at MUDA ‘Industrial A Layout’ vacant plots 68/C, 68/D, 68/E and 73/A.

As per the request from the Railway Goods Shed Lorry Owners Association, MUDA members have taken a decision to temporarily allow the parking of trucks after taking rent for the land, he said, putting a temporary end to the long-standing problem.

Stressing on the need for having a permanent lorry stand, the Association said that the ideal spot is the MUDA site adjacent to Gumnam Shavali Dargah.

MUDA was urged to take measures for setting up of the lorry stand at this spot and also to provide civic amenities such as sanitation, drinking water, power connection etc., at the stand.

Highlighting the advantages of setting up the lorry stand near the Dargah, the Association said that the completion of works on the road that connects the Dargah with Ring Road will enable MNGT lorries to reach the Ring Road directly. This will ensure a direct link between Gumnam Shavali Dargah and Ring Road and also de-congest traffic on Jodi Thenginamara Road, the Association argued.

Rajeev said that MUDA would construct a truck terminal on its land near Gumnam Shavali Dargah and till such time, parking will be allowed at Industrial  ‘A Layout’ vacant plots.
