Advocate stages solo protest against harassment by officials

January 4, 2019

Mysuru:  Accusing the officials of the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement (DCRE) of unnecessarily harassing him and his community members, city advocate Paduvarahalli Ramakrishna staged a solo demonstration in front of the DCRE office in Nazarbad here yesterday.

Alleging that following a complaint by some that he (Ramakrishna) does not belong to ST Nayaka Community, the DCRE officials have issued a notice to him asking him to appear for an enquiry, Ramakrishna maintained that there was no provision in the law to issue such a notice based on a private complaint.

Accusing the DCRE officials of issuing notices to several persons from Parivara and Talawara communities coming under ST category, Ramakrishna urged the officials to withdraw the notice at once and stop harassment.
