Outflow to increase any time; CNNL issues flood warning
Mandya: After, 2006, when KRS reservoir remained full for 90 days, now it is full for 60 days and heading to beat the previous record.
The continuous rain in Kushalnagar, K.R. Nagar and Hunsur region, has pushed up the inflow to 8,253 cusecs and is likely to go up again. The outflow this morning was 7,997 cusecs.
The retention of full level in KRS consistently coupled with rain in the district has brought happiness among farmers.
Flood warning
With the Cauvery catchment area receiving continuous rain and inflow to KRS reservoir increasing each day, there is a likelihood of increasing the outflow from the reservoir in the range of 25,000 cusecs or more at any moment.
The Executive Engineer of Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Limited (CNNL), KRS Division, in a press release yesterday, has cautioned people living on banks of the river and at low-lying areas, to move to a safer place.
They are also asked to take all precautionary measures for safety and security of their lives and properties.
Boating stopped in Ranganathittu
Following flood warning by CNNL, boating has been temporarily stopped at Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary from today as a precautionary measures.
