Bengaluru: Minister for youth Empowerment and Sports K.C. Narayanagowda said that four personalities from the State have been selected for the prestigious NSS National award this year.
In a press statement issued here yesterday, Narayanagowda said that the State has got the award after a gap of six years.
The award winners are Dr. B. Vasanth Shetty (NSS Programme Co-ordinator of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru) – University category; Sureshappa K. Sajjan (NSS Programme Officer, JSS Banashankari Arts and Commerce College, Dharwad) – College category; Sirish Govardhan (A volunteer of K.S. Institute of Technology, Bengaluru) – National-level Volunteers category; Bindia Shetty (A volunteer from Govind Das College, Surathkal, Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada district) – Volunteers category.
Noting that none from the State were selected for the award in the past 6 years, the Minister has complimented all the winners for their achievement.
Award winners will receive the award from the President of India at the NSS Foundation Day programme to take place at Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi on Sept. 24, the statement said.
