Chamarajanagar: An Agricultural College, under University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru, will start functioning from Aug.27 at Haradanahalli Agricultural Sciences Centre in the taluk.
Disclosing this at a press meet at the Centre on Friday, MP R. Dhruvanarayan said that former CM Siddharamaiah had announced in his last Budget speech that an Agricultural College would be opened in the district and the present CM H.D. Kumaraswamy (HDK) has issued an order to commence the College. He added that the long-pending demand of the people of the district has been fulfilled.
Continuing, Dhruvanarayan said that the College will open for 2018-19 academic year with an initial intake of 31 students and added that the existing infrastructure would be utilised initially to provide B.Sc (Agriculture) course. The MP further said that Minister for Agriculture N.H. Shivashankar Reddy will inaugurate the new College on Aug.27. District Minister C. Puttarangashetty will preside. Primary and Secondary Education Minister N. Mahesh, MLAs and MLCs will participate, he added.
He further said that 75 acre of land fit for agriculture essential for the College has been identified near Yadapura which will be sanctioned by the Govt. soon.
