Agriculture officer booked for cheating woman

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru District Police have registered a case against an Agricultural Officer for sexually abusing a woman on the pretext of marrying her and later threatening to kill her if she did not take back her complaint and stop pestering him to marry her.

While the accused has been identified as 30-year-old Vikas, an Agricultural Officer at the Raitha Samparka Kendra in Bettadapura Hobli of Periyapatna taluk while the complainant is a computer operator and a resident of Periyapatna taluk.

The computer operator, who had got married in 2009, had applied for a divorce in a Court. Meanwhile, Vikas, who took the lady computer operator to his residence in Hunsur, reportedly promised to marry her after she obtains a divorce and sexually abused the lady.

The woman got a divorce on Jan. 4 and Vikas, continued to sexually abuse her during which she got pregnant and Vikas got the pregnancy aborted on Apr. 3 at a private hospital in city.

Later, when Vikas refused to marry her, the lady had attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison. On July 4, the woman lodged a complaint against Vikas at the Women’s Police Station and the Police before registering a FIR had called Vikas for counselling but Vikas did not turn up.

Meanwhile, Vikas is said to have put pressure on the woman to withdraw the complaint she had lodged at the Women’s Police Station besides allegedly threatening the woman with life, if she continues to pester him to marry her.

Meanwhile, the woman again lodged a complaint with the District Police and based on the complaint, the District Police have registered a case and are investigating.
