AICC Spokesperson hopeful of RJD-Cong. alliance romping home in Bihar

October 28, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Expressing confidence that the Mahagathbandhan, led by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-Congress alliance, will romp home comfortably in the upcoming Bihar Assembly Polls, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Spokesperson and senior Supreme Court advocate Brijesh Kalappa said that the people of the country are fed up with the false promises and claims made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing a press meet at Congress Bhavan, located near the City Railway Station here yesterday, Brijesh Kalappa said that the BJP has been losing one election after the other following the 2019 Lok Sabha Polls and the Bihar Assembly Polls will be the latest to add to the string of defeats of the BJP.

Referring to Sira and R.R. Nagar Assembly By-polls in the State, Kalappa said that the people will teach a befitting lesson to the ruling BJP for all its misdeeds during its over one year rule in the State.

Accusing B.Y. Vijayendra, son of Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, of distributing money to the people of Sira, he maintained that Vijayendra was camping in Sira just for the purpose of distributing money.

Targeting R.R. Nagar BJP Candidate Muniratna, he said that the BJP Candidate would be wholly wrong if he thought that money and muscle power would bring him victory in the polls.

Maintaining that the irrigation facilities launched by T.B. Jayachandra, the Congress candidate in Sira, who is popularly known as ‘Bhageeratha’ in the region and the misdeeds of Muniratna, the BJP Candidate in R.R. Nagar, will help the Congress to romp home in both the Assembly segments, he said that the Poll outcome will be the start of the collapse of BJP Government in the State.

Alleging a huge scam worth hundreds of crores of rupees in the purchase of ventilators for tackling COVID-19, Brijesh Kalappa accused BJP leaders of receiving kickbacks in COVID-19 purchases and using this filthy money for winning the By-polls.

He also wanted to know from where all the BJP leaders were getting money for spending on By-polls at a time when the State is facing a grave financial crisis, with the Treasury almost empty.

Referring back to Bihar Polls, he ridiculed the BJP for assuring a COVID vaccine for free to the people of Bihar if it was returned to power.

Charging the BJP of stooping to new lows in politics, he reminded the BJP that Jawaharlal Nehru, as the Prime Minister, distributed BCG Vaccine for free to all the citizens of the country, without any hype.

Wanting to know whether the people of Karnataka would be deprived of free COVID vaccine, he lashed out at the Prime Minister for making the issue of COVID Vaccine distribution a political one, by announcing the same ahead of Bihar Polls. The PM is giving such assurances out of frustration of losing the Bihar Polls, he added.

District Congress President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Spokesperson Manjula Manasa, leaders M. Shivanna, Prakash Kumar, Hedathale Manjunath and others were present during the press meet.
