AIISH conducts workshop on Information and Communication Technology

Mysuru:The Department of Electronics, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), had recently organised a workshop on “Effective Utilisation of Information and Communication Technology.”  It aimed at providing information on the present day technology of computers, networking and their applications, effective and safe utilisation of internet and mobile communication technology and hands-on training on how to explore Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) tools for learning.

K.Balasubramanya, Principal, Regional Telecom Training Centre (RTTC), Mysuru, delivered  keynote address on “Safe Utilisation of Information and Communication Technology” and said that most of the human activities are web-based and hence information and communication technology plays a key role in administration, education and clinical services.

“Only those who are able to effectively utilise ICT tools would excel in their profession. Safe utilisation of ICT is an area of utmost concern in the present world.  Malware, intrusions and Denial of Service (DoS) are the major threats to ICT users.  I hope the knowledge earned through this workshop will be a platform for students and professionals to safeguard their systems and data from cyber attacks,” he said.  

Dr. Asha Yathiraj, Director, AIISH, opined that the field of speech and hearing is technology-intensive and hence it is essential for students and professionals who take up speech and hearing as a career to have a sound knowledge of ICT tools.

Dr. Ajish K. Abraham, Head, Department of Electronics, welcomed. N. Manohar, Coordinator, briefed about the objectives of workshop. About 100 students and professionals in the field of speech and hearing attended.
