AIISH felicitates special achievers

Mysore/Mysuru: All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, observed the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Dec. 3.

The aim of the programme was to promote awareness regarding disability issues, fundamental rights of persons with disabilities, in all spheres of society and development and in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

M.J. Roopa, Additional Commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation, was the chief guest through virtual mode. Prof. M. Pushpavathi, Director, AIISH, Mysuru presided. On the occasion, the following special achievers along with “AIISH Best Mother of the Year-2021” were felicitated:

B. Ramadevi, mother of V. Vamsi Krishna, a child with Spoken Language Disorder Secondary to Autism Spectrum Disorder & Intellectual Disability.  The child exhibited poor mental abilities, socialisation skills, poor eye contact, self-injurious behaviours, reduced attention and concentration. Her dedication, sincerity and hard work has brought the change in her child’s life showing improvement in quality of life.

B.K. Karthik, a person with cleft lip and palate, has completed Diploma in Electronics and Communication from Srimath Polytechnic College, Mysuru. Currently he is working as Technical Lead in Happy Minds Company, Mysuru.

T.P. Asna, a person with Hearing Impairment, completed her Bachelor’s in Architecture from Government Engineering College, Kerala and secured first class. Currently she is working as an Architect and Designer at Arclink in Trissur.

Annushaka Bhattacharjee, a person with Autism Spectrum Disorder, completed her 10th standard through National Open Schooling. Currently she is working as Assistant Teacher at Nireeksha Special School, Mysuru. 

The pre-recorded videos of sports and cultural events, phone-in programmes and success stories of persons with disabilities were streamlined via Facebook page of AIISH.
