January 14, 2018

Mysuru: Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) has set a target of achieving 1,00,000 MW as India’s solar power capacity by 2022. To achieve this, the Prime Minister has given direction for expeditious installation of roof top solar projects in Government building premises.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has initiated the installation of Roof top Solar Power Plant in all the buildings of the institutions and offices under the Ministry.

Under this programme, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, has been allocated 472 kWh (Kilo Watt hour) Grid connected roof top solar power system.  The project is being implemented at AIISH by NTPC Vidyuth Vyapar Nigam Ltd., through Sun Renewables, Gurugram.  The implementing agency has completed all background work required for implementation of the project.

Dr. S.R. Savithri, Director, AIISH, signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) along with Vikram Reddy, General Manager (South India), Sun Renewables, at a meeting held at AIISH, Mysuru recently and thus initiated the process of implementation.

Dr. Ajish K. Abraham, Nodal Officer for the project, told SOM that AIISH happens to be the first institute under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to sign the PPA. This project under RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) model would be investor owned and is expected to be completed by August 2018.

With this initiative AIISH will contribute to the ambitious target, with which India will become one of the largest Green Energy producers in the world, surpassing several developed countries.
